The wrap you speak of is a complete waste of time. A cursory knowledge of thermodynamics would indicate that there is NO horsepower to be gained. There might be a small reduction in underhood temperatures when using tubular steel headers, but not with iron manifolds - especially ones as good as Volvo designed.
Hopefully you have the late B18 dual header pipe manifold, and not the earlier single pipe one.
