240 ,86 no spark/insufficiant ground at fp relay 200 1986

My daughters 240 drove to store, she shopped and when returned to car ... turns over but no start. I checked for fp relay clicking when ign. engaged, got click but no start. Also no fuel pump buzz. Checked all fuses -- OK, checked for spark, no spark. Figured faulty Hall switch. Found test distributor connected to harness, spun shaft and now have spark. Installed distributor and tried to start--no start. Still have spark but fp relay no clicking. Jumped 30-87/1-87/2 car starts. Checked relay -- no bad soldier joints but find that if I ground 86/1 car runs. Is 86/1 a ground from fuel ECU? What steps do I need to take to remedy this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Fred
