Add freon without starting the engine 700

That's an excellent tip, dm960! When I had trouble recharging with an R12a kit because of a defective hose connector, the vendor offered to do it for me. The first thing he did was ask me to turn off the engine. When he tried to put the first can in, we saw right away I had a massive leak somewhere, which we wouldn't have heard with the engine running. (The hose I had was indeed defective, so the leak wasn't my only problem.) I found later that my compressor to condenser hose was cracked at the lower connector and I'm now awaiting a new one from FCP Groton.
