Sleeping Rust, Shhh! 200

Sleeping until the next rain.

Volvo joins three pieces of metal in this one corner and the designed slop gap is filled with shrinking white mud (bondo). After scraping and rough cleaning I had a fist sized hole. You cannot see it here but there were some smaller rust issues on a seam just to the left.

Patch process, wright or rong. Chisel, wire brush, and grind the undercoating and rust. The hidden inside edges just got hit with a chisel and rotary wire brush. Por 15 process, metal patch from an old paint thinner can bolted in place with three 10/32 nuts and bolts with a layer non-hardening butyl. Outside finish, fiberglass and 3M undercoating. Inside PL polyurethane. I am finding many uses for the PL Poly stuff.

I have not looked at the right side. There is another leak at the side rear window.

Tom
We use to use old "House for Sale" signs for patching floor boards and other rust spots. This kind of dates me. These signs have been made of plastic for a while.
