what are the possible and or likely reasons why the water temp gauge (comp board gone) will wobble around the normal mid line read for a second here and there but remain settled unmoving 98% of the time?

it does NOT do this at startup/initial warmup.

it only does this while driving and only for a second or two before settling. i would say this occurs nearly everyday.

there is no coolant loss or bubbles in the expansion tank.
