Have you changed your fan clutch? 700

I've been replacing a number of items on a newly acquired 90 740. I assumed the fan clutch was bad because it did not roar when I first start it up like my '89 does.

So, I went ahead and replaced it and the new one does not roar either. The new one was an Aisin same as original.

Does a new fan clutch roar or does it have to age to do that? Years ago I tested my 89 with a tachomter and verified it changed speed. Haven't tried it yet with the new one...
