Add freon without starting the engine 700

I found the 1st leak by listening in a quiet garage with the engine off & 2 cans in the system. Was on the bracket that holds the line to the compressor. Then the compressor clutch went bad, then found the condensor leaking. Have replaced every part from the evaporator to the compressor with good used parts from the pull-a-part. A/c has held for a week now. Gets down to around 42*. Cannot get the condensor fan working yet. May have to run a switch. I will continue to charge from now on using the hot water method, but will stay away from the can while it's discharging just in case it does split.
