Differential drain plug? 700 1987

Hi folks,

I'm confused. I see a ~15mm (haven't put a wrench on it) bolt head on the bottom of the differential case, pointing straight down. It's behind the lip created by the diff cover flange, so I didn't see it until I nearly poked my eye on it (story on that later!). Is this the drain plug for the differential?
