1992 964 AC clutch not engaging 900

Just returned from a guy who has previously charged my AC unit in my other 960 and he has indicated that he can't charge this one because the AC Clutch is not engaging. Although he thinks he can ultimately figure this out, he believes it may take an hour or so to diagnose why the clutch is not engaging. I thought it may be better for me to have some clues for him to work with as he is not familiar with this car at all.

Any ideas or directions for me to take would be greatly appreciated.

Also am having an issue with air not circulating to the dash vents. It appears that a door is not opening or closing and as a result the air is nominal to the dash vents. I'm under the impression that these vents are activated by the vacuum system but do not know where to start looking to see if this is the issue.

Again, any thoughts or previous experience with this would be apreciated.
