Continuing coolant leaks from my 960! 900

Hello. I have been chasing a coolant leak in my car for the past few weeks now and as of yesterday I discovered where it is coming from. It appears as though it is leaking out of a rubber hose that connects in between the heater valve and the metal coolant pipe that runs alongside the passenger side of the engine. Just about every mechanic I've been to tells me that it is the metal pipe thats leaking. Is it possible that the rubber hose does not disconnect from the metal pipe? I hope thats not the case because Volvo wants $100 for the pipe! The rubber hose is held on by two radiator clamps thus leading me to believe that it can be replaced separately. Anybody ever had this issue or have any input? Thanks!
