Replacing Compressor 200 1985

I think the compressor on my 85 wagon is shot, blows fuse when turned on. I jumpered 12v directly to compressor and it does not engage. The system was already converted to R134.

Is there a ground wire on this compressor somewhere that may have broken off?Can this possibly cause the fuse to blow and compressor not to come on even when 12v applied directly to it?

How difficult is it to replace the compressor and recharge with 134?

Thanks!
