Towing an automatic on the ground 900 1995

I want to tow my 95 945 about 10 miles on a tow bar to a more convenient place to pull the head. I prefer not to go to the trouble to pull the drive shaft. I think the book limits towing an automatic on the ground to 20 miles at 20 mph. The 20 mph part is not going to be practical.

So, if I start the car and leave it running in neutral while towing it, will that prevent damage to the transmission?

Thanks,
Charley
