Hey Art, Dan here (again).

I'm the one with the 91 240 that stalls at idle until it trips 113, adapts, and then idles okay. I can dig up the old threads if you don't remember.

Anyway, last diagnosis showed the in-tank pump to be dead. I finally got around to replacing the pump last night. It was an easy job in terms of force and complexity, but MAN, was it hot out last night. I was constantly using the air compressor spray nozzle to blow the sweat off my face while I was working. Opened the garage to air out the fumes, which let in a swarm of insects. Closed garage again.....

So, pre-pump swapped out, I started the car again after a fresh ECU reset (battery disconnect). The car started quickly and immediately held a 750rpm idle for just long enough for me to say "Yes!", then it stalled. Restarted, stalled again. Restarted, held on gas, let off, and the idle would get real low, car would buck and stutter, then rev up to about 1500, drop down, stutter, etc.

So...SOMETHING happened, as these symptoms are slightly different than before, but the pre-pump didn't fix the problem. The oddest part was that half-second of running just fine before the idle threw a fit and the stalling started.

One other thing - this is the longest the car has sat with the battery disconnected since the problems began, if that means anything.

I'm off to try to find a good AMM to test with before digging through the junkyard. Unfortunately, these cars are becoming increasingly rare on the roads down here, and I don't know anyone that has one.
