960 Rear Suspension 900

Hello-
I have a 1994 960 sedan (level 1 trim I believe as there is only the driver's power seat and a metal sunroof as opposed to glass) Anyway I had the rear of the car up on jacks today to check for an exhaust leak and also to have a look see at my rear suspension to see if it was nivomat or not. It is the independent suspension back there and the shocks themselves have a rubber boot on the bottom (bolting onto the suspension) and the top is about 3 inches in diameter (the part bolting to the body) Once I put the car back down on the ground it sits quite low, always did come to think of it hence the checking the shocks, but now even lower to the point of if you look at the car from the side you cannot see the top of the tire. Almost looks like there is alot of stuff in the trunk but is empty.... I fear the fact that I do have the nivomat shocks as they are like $300 for each side. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
