Just last month I got a call for crank but no start. I had my daughter check the codes in both sockets - first time I ever saw a code set in socket 6!

Shaking the wire to the CPS, just as you did, got it going. I thought I could limp it home (about 5 miles), but got chicken when it came time to pull out on the highway and it was sputtering. Went home to fetch a new CPS and put it in on the side of the road.
