replace seat belt latch. 700 1990

Hey Rich,

I've had this happen on our '90 wagon as well. The driver side broke, and less than a week later the passenger side broke. Unfortunately, I think the only fix is to replace the latch. You need not remove the center console, but you do need to remove the seat. Its bolted to the side of the seat and the cable for the LED in the latch is attached to the underside of the seat with a bunch of cable ties. It appears Volvo changed the parts around over the years, so the latch is specific to 1990 and they are different from left to right.

The part no. for the driver side (left) latch is 3525264. This is available at Tasca Volvo for about $53.00. Tasca incorrectly has it listed as the right side. The part on the car and Vadis confirms this.

The passenger side latch is part no. 3525265. Price is about the same

If you can find one at a yard from the same year car, by all means do so.

Upon looking at the latch, there seems to be no nondestructive way of getting it apart. So I think repairing it is not possible.

Best regards, Jon 'Uncle Olaf'
