Timing belt repair and crank pulley holder 200 1987

hello brickboard. I live in portland OR and drive a 1987 volvo 240 and I need to replace the timing belt and tensioner. I understand that there is a crank pulley holder so that you can slip off the timing belt and replce it without ruining the timing. The IPD website says it is a must for all cars with an automatic transmission, I actually have a 5 speed manual. Is this tool someting I definetely need if I am going to replace the belt or will the engine hold itself without too much influence on the timing? Also, is there anyone in portland with this tool that I can borrow?? I dont want to go throwing down 60 bucks on a tool I may use onece every 8 years since I hardly ever drive, thats alot of widmere which of course I would happily buy for anyone that would help me.

-thanks
david
