Compression Testing procedures

I am not sure what the accepted procedure is for dealing with the ignition. I have always removed the coil wire from the top of the distributor cap and grounded it. I also unplug the injectors.

With all the plugs out it is easy to hear the compression strokes on the cylinder being tested. With the accelerator to the floor (open throttle body plate) I usually count 5 strokes.

Since you are looking for consistency in compression readings it helps to be consistent in the way you do each cylinder.
