Zero compression on cylinder 1 200 1993

Without notice we started one of the '93 240 with 130k miles and the engine was running very rough. I notice a metal tapping sound not too loud. I pulled all the plugs and they looked good. Ran a compression test and number 1 cylinder had 0 while the others were all around 145 psi. Looking through the oil fill cap the springs are all moving and I did not notice anything abnormal.

Just wanted to get some advise on my test plan.

(1) remove the valve cover and inspect the springs to make sure they are closing
(2) Check the timing belt and verify timing
(3) Remove head insect for valve or piston damage

Assuming the worse are there facility that sell short blocks?

Thanks

Roger
