Ran into that one about a year ago after driving the 245 through Raleigh NC pot holes for six months. The U bolts stretched and the rack started to slap side to side. I must say, it was one heck of an uneasy feeling on the freeway that was worn out and "crested". A 20 mile trip meant worn out arms and anxiety through the roof!

A 15mm deep well socket is needed to tighten up the nuts on those very important U-Bolts!
