Polarizing generator: need reminder when cleaning terminals 120-130

If I was installing a new generator, I'd look into polarizing the generator. However, it is merely time to remove wiring harness leads, (voltage reg. to gen, etc.), for cleaning and a light wipe of NO-OX electrical grease.

But I can't remember if I need to polarize the generator again afterward?

I've been getting erratic gen. idiot light from time to time, so I think I have a dirty connection. (gen light comes on; fuel gauge dies; OD trans intermittant; and directional signals intermittant)

This '67 122 wagon hasn't been driven much lately, so housekeeping is my first thought.

Generator tips appreciated.

Cheers,
Dennis in rural E. WA state
