radar detector 200 1993

Hey guys.
i drive a 93 240, and i've been wanting to put in a radar detector for a while now...but i dont want it to be obvious. i came up with a concept for one, and i was hoping you all could give me some input or advice, or even tell me if its possible.
So heres what i was thinking. I would have the actual detector installed like in the front bumper, and run a wire to a gauge on the dash. I was thinking a voltometer, like the picture attached. When a radar is detected, the voltometer would go up.

it made more sense when i was thinking about it, but i hope yall understand the concept.

Do yall think this is even possible? if so, would it be legal? (i live in north carolina) What kind of electrical work would it involve?

i doubt it, but does something like this already exist maybe?
