Don't forget to jimmy the flap inside the airbox so it's closed against the hole. I took the old thermostat out, turned it upside down, and jammed it back in which forces the flap shut pretty tightly.

I guess you could just remove the flap bracket too. Point is you want the cold intake through the snorkel, not the hot-air port.
