An overheat or what? 200 1983

Alright,
Its been a while since posting, and I'm glad to get back in the grove.

Question standing:

The temp. gauge in the car does not signal an over heat, it sits happily at just below the halfway mark. Yet whenever I stop and check under the hood (short and long drives alike) The coolant overflow is either hissing, or doing a little bubbly. Letting the pressure of the lid and opening it only reviels a head on the fluid much like a nice beer. Although not nice in this case. I next grasp the inlet radiator hose going into the block and its scolding hot, with much pressure present (bloated).

Short of my worst feelings (blow heady).. Whats going on? Thermostat? Leaking?

Thanks for the time in reading.

Joe
