91 240 sputtered then died now won't start

The car started fine ran a few blocks then acted like it wasn't getting any gas. i had to floor it just to get it to the side of the road. i sat on the sied of the road giving it gas when it back fired revved like normal so i took off to get it back home when it just died. it sounds like there isn't any spark when i crank it now. the motor just spins. It has spark at the coil. any ideas on what to check?
