crankshaft vibration 700

On a 740 b230ft, when watching the crank pulley with engine on, everything looks fine until it hits about 2800-3000 rpm and one will see a quite severe vibration visible in the pulley and belts which transmits into the body. The vibration diminishes somewhat above this rpm. The old harmonic damper looks OK but tried a new one which shifted the resonance slightly.

Vibration has no relation to road speed and will occur in neutral or drive, so doubt it's the trans or driveline.

Just about everything external has been tended to, mounts, cracked exhaust manifold, gaskets, tried rotating the torque converter, so it's coming down to something in the block, any ideas?
