'83 engine issues 200 1983

Hello,

My '83 244 DL 222,000miles is in need of a breather box-the intake is off and I see that the head is weeping oil from drivers side of head.

So if I have the head done, my mechanic says to do a valve job at the same time 'cause we are in it that far. I do not have the set up to do the head myself.

If I just do the head gasket, and not the valve job-is this a sensible thing to do, given the miles on the engine? The car also has a tranny leak, (AW 71) at the cowling seam.

TIA

Todd
