Hex plug? 200 1986

Yes Art, I actually threaded the inside of that hex head with a M8 Tap. Well two of them actually, used a starter the get the finishing tap to bite. There was a minor removal of material and yes there is a danger here regardless of what is behind it. I made a point not to over tighten the belts and to make sure that the bolt went in straight and had no slop. Took my Dremel and a heavy duty wheel and trimmed the bolt so it went to the very bottom and still held the accessory bushing firm to the block. Figured that would give the most strength and give the best chance of not tearing anything loose.

You have to measure the benefits vs the hazard IMOH. I could carpool with the wife and get to work late and then leave early every day. At least until the old hole is drilled out and fixed. This is my week to work late every day of course and people would notice if the work did not get done. Or I could take the even more hazardous path of picking the wife up hours late.

One would get me in trouble at work, the other would get me in even more trouble at home. Suddenly threading the inside of the hex bolt had an upside. Took Inga out for a little 45 min jaunt last night and everything is still as it was before the trip. I will be raising the hood often and watching the Temp Faker and Oil pressure like a hawk until I can get to one of the mentioned places and get that diamond bit. I have to read up on this other Paul sounds like. You do not see shopping for parts in ladies sections and chinese houses of ill repute mentioned that often here on the BB.

Keeping my fingers crossed and Regards,

Paul
