ECT replacement - both engine temp sensors the same/compatible? 700

I think I might have made a mistake... I am trying to replace the ECT, which I thought was the one right above the knock sensor and under the intake manifold. It took forever to get it off, it does look about the same.

I was reading over the FAQS again to see if they had any tips on installing it because I can't get any type of 3/4 socket/wrench/etc.... to be able to turn after I fit it on it from the side....

Ok, I didn't not realize there are 2 different engine temperature sensors. Does anyone know if the one for the ECT is the same as the front one for the temp. gauge in car? I don't see any others online from say FCPGroton.

Thanks, some that terminology is throwing me - I'm fairly new to the whole process. Success at everything so far, but this has been the worst headache ever (trying to re-install it, then finding I'm doing the wrong one).
