92 960 wagon mis-shifting sensation at highway speeds 900 1992

I was out driving at highway speed (70mph; 2300rpm) when i noticed a slight hesitation in the forward momentum and simultaneously an increase in rpms (about 200). This seemed to occur with or without cruise, and primarily between 63 -73 mph. It felt as though it was confused as to what gear to be in or trying to down shifting to pass (w/o huge increase of rpm) but it would bounce back to normal instantly, and continue this cycle until i would get out of the mph range. Im pretty sure it wasnt doing it outside the mph range. If i were to step on the gas as if to pass, it would behave normally with a downshift and acceleration until i achieved pre-pass speeds. Was wondering what it could be? I recently had a motonics unit replaced. john
