OBD error in FAQ? 200 1992

Thanks so much for clearing up the OBD's lack of capability for reading SRS codes. I took your input and that prompted me to do more searching in past Brickboard posts under "SRS dash". I found an old Chris Herbst post that helped me.

So, I read the code: "1" which is a crash sensor fault. Then I succeeded in erasing it. I left the engine run in idle for several minutes to see if it would reappear. It didn't.

My bottom line is: I don't have a faulty crash sensor and I can feel confident that the SRS system is functional.

How did it get this way? My daughter may offer clues. Perhaps her rear quarter fender bender (that she didn't tell me about), an old worn battery since replaced, loose alternator belt with a new one since replaced, etc. When she did have the SRS dash light issue investigated by a service garage, the diagnosis was a faulty crash sensor and since they mentioned the price of repair, she declined that repair strategy. My sense is that garage didn't attempt to reset the code. But, I'll continue to watch over this "fix", smarter in knowing how to attack it next time.

Soon, the car goes to my son and I want it safe for him, too.
