Auxiliary Air Slide Part no 241853 not working and part N/A - How to fix?? 1800 1972

Hi, my -72 1800ES with B20E has since a long time had a non working Aux Air Slide, causing rough idle until engine has reached temperature, no problems thereafter. The part seems to be out of stock since several years, but I have come across reports of succesful fixes based on parts from more recent engines. Does anyone have a detailed description of a good fix for this problem, with part numbers and sources/references? I believe that lots of B20E's and F's are in the same situation.
