Distributor Problem 444-544

On my 444 project I am getting close to where I see if the rebuilt B20 will run. But I have a problem in trying to install the distributor.

It does not "seat" all the way into the block. After engaging the drive gear it wants to sit with the hold down bracket (two bolts) about 1/8 inch above the block.

I thought that the drive gear in the engine might be the problem. I have pulled it up a bit and repositioned it to try to make it sit deeper but that did not help.

The gasket set has just a cardboard type gasket for this. Is there a spacer I'm missing or can someone give me an idea of what's wrong here?

The distributor is the aluminum 007 one.

Thanks,

Keith W.
