More dumb Trani questions M47 M46 200

If I go to a junkie to look for a Dead trani to Open up and play with... What are the immediate physical differences between the M46 and M47?

I thought the Backup light switch was on opposite sides..

Another question... Can I drop the Trani with the Shifter in place? Will the Trani tilt down enough to get the shifter out of the Tunnel?
Is there some 'half turn' locking mechanism holding the Shifter down into it's Bracket?
