M47 clutch replacement. TRANNY Is STUCK!! 200

I thought the labor day weekend would be a good time to change the clutch. but seem to be running into problem after problem. i have all the bolts on the bellhousing off and the sob still won't come off. any ideas???

I am having trouble removing the clutch cable as well. The previous owner had a new cable installed, but I believe it may be the wrong part. I can NOT get any free play. Also, isnt the adjuster nut suppose to be a seperate peice?? Mine turns along with the rest of the plastic bushing material.

AND THEN, that stupid set screw in the linkage. I was just going to pull the tranny back, with the shifter pushed down through the hole, and hold it there while a replaced just the clutch plate, and slide it back in (and yes, i do have an alignment tool). Sound feasable???

Thanks!! (any quick replys would be appreciated, its my work car :-)
