Temp gauge rises a bit on highway 200 1982

Hi all,

I was driving the '82 242DL on the highway the other day, and noticed that the temp gauge went to about 3/4 up to hot and just stayed there. Normally around town, the gauge sits exactly at half after it warms up (TCB seems to work!)

Initially I thought the temp was rising because I was driving at about 65mph in 4th since the O/D on my m46 wouldn't engage. But I've since fixed O/D and the temp comes down a bit but still sits on the higher side of halfway.

-Coolant level seems to be OK - a bit above min when the engine is cold.
-Waterpump didn't seem to be leaking when I changed the timing belt.
-The radiator is a bit old and crusty and missing a few fins, but not terrible.
-The temp stays normal in hard city driving.

TIA
Jesse
