Engine computer swap (mounted on windshield reservoir) 200 1984

So, I've had a lot of problems out of that box which I have come to call the engine computer. It is mounted on the windshield reservoir, and has a tube feeding into the bottom of it. I know the fuel injection computer is mounted underish the dash on the passenger's side, so could someone give me the appropriate name for this box?

Anyway, my car dies at idle and when running, and whenever it won't start tapping the box or wiggling the plug fixes it. So, first I spliced a new cable w/ plug onto it because the old one was in rough shape. That worked great for a while, but it's back and even worse this time. I bought a new box at pull a part. It came off of a 1987 244. The numbers do not match on the tops of the box, are these serials and not model numbers? I haven't swapped them out yet, because I don't want to screw over my car.

Info about the box and whether or not I can use the replacement I bought would be greatly appreciated.

Other questions I have:

1) Virgo rims... run em if you got or get em cheap?

2) Advantages disadvantages to lowering springs and sways?
