1983 245 won't start - turns over 200 1983

This started with a well running car that had a wiring harness which had lost a lot of insulation due to the defective insulation which crumbled on this years model. It was amazing to me that it ran at all with all bare wires diving down into the harness. After some minor engine work (mechanic did an oil change) the car wouldn't start. He replaced the engine crank sensor, I picked the car up and it ran like a top. Drove it for a few days, and then it wouldn't start again. Turns over fine, fuel and spark. I figured it was a short in the harness, so bought a good condition used harness, installed and still won't start? I'm wondering if someone can tell me what to look for next?
