244 Auto won't stay in park 200 1993

I've been having a problem recently when placing the brick in park. Unless I hold the gear selector up towards the dash (as in forced into park) and then release the brake pedal (while pushing the gearshift forward) the tranny does not seem to engage fully into park. It will roll (backwards or forwards depending upon the grade) once the brake is released. Otherwise the transmission seems to run fine. Reverse, neutral and all forward gears seem to operate correctly.

I'm guessing the linkage is out of adjustment or the bushings are gone. I've already checked the fluid level and everything is fine there.

Just looking for some input that I'm on the right track in troubleshooting.
