Compression 140-160 1971

If you think it may be pinging at high revs you really need to address that quickly; you'll destroy the motor very quickly if you've got predetonation or other ignition / mixture issues under load.

I'm totally ignorant in these sorts of areas but my advice is to put it on a dyno and do full power runs while monitoring the motor with an exhaust checker. You'll quickly discover if you've got ignition or mixture issues and hopefully be able to correct them before you melt pistons or bend rods.
