ATF level check 900

I checked my my auto trans fluid and I am a little confused. When it was cold, the fluid showed perfectly on the cold marker. When the car warmed up and shifting a few times the hot level read above the warm marker. I cleaned it and checked it multiple times when it was warm/hot and the level was to the top of the measure point (1/4 past the warm FULL mark).

So do I drain a little out and if so how much?

Or do I go by the low mark when it is cold?

One last opinion is on ATF. The car has 233k miles and I don't know when it was changed last (I bought it about 6 months ago). Would it be OK to change to Mobil Synthetic ATF or just stick with the old stuff?

Thanks!
