Post timing belt/wiring change, starting issues 300 1988

I've got an 88 245 w/ manual 5 speed. I had done some work on the beast, and have had problems getting it started after it started and died on Saturday.

I have checked the fuses, FP relay, spark, and know I've got cam movement. I am not sure where to start with the problem.

I had removed the distributor/ swapped it out with one that did not have issues with the wiring connection on the side as the original one had. I am not sure whether I got the positioning just right. Some guidance on this would be helpful.

Also not sure whether there is something I'm overlooking as to making the car nearly impossible to start.
