Wow, that's a great post. A true BTDT experience.

What I think is really nice about the k-jet cars, for this purpose, is the filter is so easy to get at and disconnect. I think if I were on the other end of this fight, I'd do just that, as a step before opening the tank again or going in deep with the main pump power check. In effect, repeat the delivery test, and look for the rust.
