Alternator/Voltage regulator 200 1990

Battery, Brake failure, Parking brake, bulb failure lights are flickering at low RPM, battery down to 9 volts.
Figured it was voltage regulator, didn't have time to fix, took to local shop. They said the aftermarket alternator didn't have external regulator, said it needed a $450 alternator.
For $450, I have time to fix.
Brought the car back home, local salvage yard has a 70-amp, but how do I know if my b230 240 takes a 70 amp or 80 amp alternator given that previous owner put an aftermarket alternator on?
Is switching the pulleys difficult?

Thanks!
