Fuel Pump Noise 200

My main pump is becoming progressively more and more noisy, and now it's begun to make a chattering sound rather than the louder and louder hum. My thoughts are to pull back the carpeting in the cargo area (245) and remove the access plate. I have the bung wrench, a new O-ring and a piece of new submersible hose as well as the clamps. I can hear the lift pump running and so I think that the chattering that I'm hearing is the hose leaking and causing the main pump to pull air, causing cavitation. I have A known good lift pump (less than 10K miles) and a known good main pump from the same donor car. This one was supposedly totaled with only 10K on the clock. I have several pieces from this car, and all appeared to be as new. I have bench run the pumps and they are fairly quiet.

Any other thoughts on this, or do I just about have it? As always, all suggestions are appreciated.
