Hello everyone in brickboard land, sorry for the long post. 200

Hello to everyone is Brickboard land,
I have an '89 240dl with a little over 239 thousand miles on it.My question is what would cause the engine to run rough for the first maby five minutes and then run smoother after being started cold, especially in the winter months?I've been trying to figure it out for a while now.I know that it does run smoother after it warms up so it's not that big of a deal, but I would like to run smoother all the time if it's a relatively cheap and easy fix.

I have another question,I've noticed that when the engine is idling and completely warmed up once in a while, like waiting for a traffic light perhaps it gets an occational skip.Would anyone have any idea what would cause that?Although I'm sure both problems are probably attributed to the engines' mileage and age.Volvo's are great cars, but am I just expecting to much?

P.S I tried searching for awnsers to these questions before, but haven't found any unless i missed them.
