Addon Transmission Radiator 900 1996

Has anyone ever added an aftermarket transmission radiator to their 960 or any other Volvo model for that matter? I was discussing my car with my uncle, a big car buff, and he said for every 10 degrees you can cool the transmission fluid, you can add about 15,000 miles to the life of the transmission. I know the transmission on my 960 is the same as was put in the Lexus of the same year, but my car is alot heavier than the Lexus. I just want to make sure I am not having to rebuilt or replace a transmission anytime soon. My 960 has 178000 miles.
