1965 vs. 1968 Driveshaft 120-130

Hey all, changing out the u-joints for the driveshaft in my 1968 130.

Trouble is, I cannot find the two new repacement joints that I ordered and now my car is up on jackstands w/o a driveline.

I've got a spare axle from a 1965 with newer joints but it has the old-style hanger bracket on the long shaft.

Does anyone know for sure if those long rear-shafts are interchangeable between 1965 and 1968? That is, can I remove the hanger flange from the 1965 shaft (I think there is a big nut) and use this driveshaft temporarily until I can find my u-joints or I can order a new set.

I know that there might be some balance issues, but we're just talking for a week or so. The lost u-joints are "uro" brand (which I hear is garbage) and I've already ordered some high-quality german replacements. So a temporary driveline still might be preferable to finding and installing my "lost" set.
