Ever since I got my Bertone, the cruise control did not work. The first thing done to repair it was to replace the vacuum diaphragm and be sure that all the pedal switches were properly adjusted. That didn't help. Then over a period of a week or two, we substituted in known good speedometer heads, Switch units and modules... 3 different known good ones of each.... still NADA ... so after much frustration we gave up ... that was about 2 years ago. Well today I went to my regular Volvo Guru and he went straight to the vacuum pump under the hood ... who knew there was a vacuum pump under the hood?? He jumped it and sure enough it ran ... but still didn't help anything... so he thought to check the vacuum coming from the pump .... and he was getting PRESSURE ... not SUCTION ... some dummy had reversed the vacuum lines on the vacuum pump ... so we sorted that out and immediately noticed that the vacuum diaphragm actually sucked down like it was supposed to ... let me tell you ... when I hit the road for home I was tickled pink when I hit the Cruise and it actually worked for the first time since I have owned the car !!! I figure that this is going to save me at least the amount of money in not getting speeding tickets as the job of getting it finally fixed cost me :-) Hope this helps out someone else who is tearing out their hair over a non functioning 700 series Cruise Control unit.
