Towing A Boat 200 1992

Hi Folks,

I have a 16 ft jon boat that I'm currently towing with my Volvo 245. It works fine, but the Volvo is slow when towing and has some difficulty going up steep hills with the boat.

Eventually I'd like to get something more truck like to tow the boat and with slightly more power and torque. Any suggestions for me? Something basic, repairable, that I'd be able to work on myself. Like a brick, but again a little more to the engine and a little more truck like. My initial take is something like a Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Dakota, or Ford Ranger might work. Are there any Volvo pickups out there?
